First Baseball Game

#6--that's our guy!!
It's official....this season we are a baseball family!  Our boys have decided to make the switch from soccer to baseball, at least for now.  Jackson decided he wanted to play baseball to be with his friends and his brothers followed suit!  (That's not a surprise!)  Joshua and Jonathan will start baseball in two weeks, but Jackson had his first game  yesterday.  He did great!  He hit the ball at every at-bat, once with coach-pitch and twice with the tee.  He scored two runs and even had a run-in with a player from the other team and fell on his way to third base.  It was a hot day and there were times he looked bored and ready to be done, but overall, he had a great first game!!

Our handsome baseball player!

He had a blister that was bothering him---that sometimes stole his attention from the game!

Kindergarten!!

Joshua had his first day of kindergarten and he LOVED it!  He was so nervous leading up to today, but today he did great!  Yesterday he told us that he was more nervous about not having good handwriting and his teacher being upset about it! Poor guy was worried about nothing!  He was so proud to take the bus with his big brother!  I am so thankful that our first grader and our kindergartner had smooth transitions into school!
YAY!  He's in kindergarten!!
Goofball!! :)
With Daddy on the first day
Mommy and her smiley little guy!
A couple more years and this little guy will be joining his big brothers!

He was so excited to ride the bus!
Walking together to their lines--they even held hands for part of the way!
I am so proud of our boys!  I know they will have a wonderful year!!

1st day of first grade!

Jackson started first grade today!  He couldn't fall asleep last night because he was feeling scared and anxious. He woke up happy today and seemed ready to go!
He's a FIRST GRADER!!
Love the toothless smile!!!

August Fun!!

Just a quick overview of the first few weeks of August!  I love August---our anniversary, summer weather, birthdays, and the start of school, which is good and bad!  Being a teacher is great because I get to spend the summer home with my boys!!  However, the start of the school year makes me sad because that time comes to an end, but the boys are excited for school and seeing their friends again.

AW and I celebrated our 11th anniversary!!  Can't believe it's been 11 years already---time does fly when you're having fun!!  We celebrated by taking the boys roller skating,to an arcade, and then out to a baseball game!
Four way air hockey!!  It doesn't get better!

Snake??

On our way back from baseball practice last night, I drove over a snake in the middle of the road!!  I turned around and parked on the shoulder, took out my camera, and took a picture!  I was so glad to be in the car!!  This snake was not too far off the walking path near the nature center.  Wonder if he escaped from somewhere or if someone let him go??  I have no idea how he got there, but I was completely fascinated watching him.  The cars would drive quickly past and he would open his mouth and hiss at them.  A few cars went past and then one drove right over him and that was the end of the snake.  :(  I hope there aren't any other snakes anywhere near this area!!
Pretty decent size!

Mini golf!!

Jackson created a bucket list of things he wanted to accomplish this summer.  Miniature golf was on there, so we spent a morning by the river and mini golfed.  It was fun!  We did not keep score or count penalty strokes---just had fun trying to get the ball in the hole!
My three loves!!

 It was a fun day!!  I think we're getting better...maybe!  :)

Country Livin'

So our house isn't technically "in the country" but it sure is close!  We don't have to drive 30 minutes to get to the grocery store or anything, but we are surrounded by wildlife we've not been used to.  There are coyotes and hawks in our "backyard".  We hear an owl as we fall asleep.  There are countless toads and rabbits running around and nibbling my plants and flowers.  We've had several creatures end up in our window wells!  (We really need to cover them up soon and not just say we're going to get around to it!!!)  This morning when we came downstairs to watch cartoons, I discovered a mouse in the window well!  EEEWWWW!!  These furry little creatures creep me out and I hate them!  Since being in this house, we've had some visitors.  When we bought the house there was a dead mouse in the well and that should have sent me running to a different house.  Oh well, we're here and we love our house and neighborhood, but I could really do with a few less visitors of the furry and four-legged kind!!
Three little friends in our window well!!  Ick!!
The toads are trying to think of a way to escape!  Jump, toad, jump!!

A new adventure

I'll try almost anything once.  New foods (within reason), new adventures, new experiences, bring them on!  I canoed down the Zambezi River (twice!!) and lived to tell about it!  I want our boys to experience new things.  This past Sunday we went to our first demolition derby at our local fair.  It was our first time at the fair and our first time at the derby.  We had read a book about the smash up, crash up derby, so the boys were excited about it.  It was a really fun experience, althought it was quite loud!  (The pictures are from my phone, so not the best quality).
Waiting for the action to start
The cars are lined up for the first heat
A muddy mess----such fun!
Smash!  Crash!  Bam!
It was quite a fun afternoon at the derby!
The boys enjoyed it, we had fun, we tried something new....a fun afternoon!  :)

Slip 'n' slide!

It was 100 degrees today, but it probably felt more like 115!  It was hot!!  Almost too hot to go outside, but we did venture out late this afternoon and put out the slip 'n' slide.  The boys had a great time!!  The cold water was a welcomed relief!

Nature Center

It was a hot day today, but we went out to a local nature center and had a great time!  The boys loved the butterfly house.  We also saw some animals, climbed up inside a silo, walked around a barn, and took a little hike around the pond.  It was a fun afternoon!
The butterflies were beautiful!  The boys kept hoping they would land on them.
Jackson lost a tooth this week!  Love his new smile!!
A zebra butterfly---my favorite of the day
My cuties!!  Love these boys!!
Beautiful!
What a gorgeous view! :)
