A little excitement on a Sunday morning

I was looking out the kitchen window this morning, enjoying the calm, fall morning and admiring the beautiful tree in our backyard---loved it so much I actually took this picture this morning!
All of a sudden, a hawk flew into our tree and started going after a squirrel that was climbing the tree! It was so exciting!! The squirrel kept running away and hiding from the hawk.

Eventually the hawk gave up and flew away!

Highlights

Highlights of my weekend:

• Ran a 5K yesterday (in 40 degree weather, BRRR!!)


• went apple picking with our boys and Gammy


• went grocery shopping since we had no food in the house! Even the freezer was empty---had only ice packs and peas!


• made apple sauce and apple pie with the freshly picked apples


• ran 10 miles this morning and felt pretty good


• consumed entirely too many dark chocolate Raisinets (but I love them!)


• cheered on my husband as he painted the hallway and put up some shelves


• did three loads of laundry


• enjoyed some football!

School!!

Our boys started school last week and things are going. Going well for some and rather tough for our middle child! It will take a few days (maybe weeks) to get into a good groove and to learn the routines, but I think it will be good!

Ice cream pops

Today has been a rainy day and we're stuck inside, so we decided to try a cooking project! We all had such a fun time!! I've been following an awesome website for some time (http://www.bakerella.com/) and find her stuff amazing, but my stuff never turns out the same....until now! We made these amazingly awesome creations this morning and I'm so excited how they turned out!! It's cake on the inside and then the outsides are decorated to make them look like ice cream cones! Cute, right??

They are super easy to make and the boys enjoyed decorating and eating their handiwork.

This weekend we spent some time in Wisconsin for my little brother's wedding! I still can't believe that he's married! :) It was a beautiful wedding---a wonderful event! Here are lots of pictures!!
