A fun afternoon

What a fun afternoon we've had today! We spent lots of time outside--riding bikes, going for a walk in the stroller, and playing in the backyard. We also had fun inside as we worked on decorating our first cake.

a syndrome??

So, Jonathan went to the eye doctor yesterday and the results were inconclusive. The difference between his two pupils is 1.5 mm. 1 mm means everything is normal, while 2 mm signals a problem. Jonathan is in the middle, the gray zone, as the doctor put it. Our options are 1) do nothing, 2) seek a second opinion with a pediatric neuro-opthamologist, or 3) have a cocaine eye drop test performed on Jonathan at the same clinic we were at yesterday. (The cocaine test would test for Horner's Syndrome and would rule it out 100% or diagnose him as having it.) We are choosing option #2 and we'll be going to the Wheaton Eye Clinic for further tests! We are fairly certain that he's fine, but we would like to just know for sure!

In this picture you can really notice the difference. Look closely at his eyes!

Little Eyes

Jonathan had his 4-month well baby visit this morning. He is growing well (17 pounds, which is 90th percent) and meeting all his milestones. The one thing that we'd like for you to pray about is his little eyes! A few weeks ago AW noticed that one of his pupils was slightly larger than the other one. The pediatrician checked this morning and referred us to a pediatric opthamologist. Our appointment is on Monday. Please pray that everything is okay and this is just a normal variance (that's what our ped thought).

Easter 2009

We had a wonderful Easter---great church service, family, friends, and fun! But most importantly, celebrating that our Savior Jesus Christ is risen!! He died for our sins and rose three days later--what a wonderful thing to celebrate!

Trying out something new

I love cookies! And I love the pretty ones that are so nicely decorated! I wish I had some artistic talent, but I just don't---(I was always more the athletic type, never the artistic type). Anyway I have always wanted to decorate cookies, and was jealous of other people who could. This week I was really inspired (with Josh's party just a few weeks away) and went to the store to get supplies and came home ready to start baking and decorating. I was surprised by how fun it was, even though it's really not that easy!! This is what I did today---baked cookies from scratch, made frosting (several colors) and decorated---well, more like just filling in the outlines. It's a start and it's fun and the boys (well, mostly Jackson) loved helping. And we'll all love eating the finished product!!
Three dozen cookies--shaped like butterflies, daisies, musical notes and trains.
A green daisy
A green daisy with star-tip flowers in the middle (didn't turn out so good)
Some pink and purple cookies
The baggie I was using exploded and made "spaghetti" (I have real decorating bags, but didn't want to waste those with just experimenting)

A busy boy

Joshua was supposed to be taking a nap this afternoon, but instead he thought he would do some work.
Hmmm...where did all these clothes come from??
Lots of clothes on the floor
One empty drawer...well, almost empty!
And one tired little boy who finally fell asleep after all that work!!

Sleep!!

Jonathan prefers his thumb over a binky!! Such a peaceful sleeper!!

Jackson decided he didn't want to nap during nap/rest time this afternoon, but the little guy didn't make it too long. He fell asleep on the couch after snack time this afternoon. He's still my little guy for a little bit longer!! Doesn't he look so sweet?!!

(Oh, in the last post, the picture of Joshua sleeping was cute because he fell asleep in Jackson's bed during naptime.)

A champ!

Our little Jonathan is quite a sleeping champ!! And we love it!! And need it! Last night Jonathan went down to sleep at 8pm and woke up at 7:45 am, with only one time getting up all night, at 5:15 am for a quick feeding! He's a champ!!

Children's museum

Hooray for fun mornings!! I took the boys to the DuPage children's museum and we had such a good time! I was nervous taking all three because there are always so many kids there and Joshua tends to run all over the place. I was worried I wouldn't be able to keep up with all of them. They were all so good--Jonathan slept the ENTIRE time--and we had lots of fun! On the drive there Jackson was explaining to Joshua what the museum was all about. He said, "The museum is filled with fun. It's just a fun place!" Sweet! The museum is filled with different rooms--the drum room, the writing with lights room, the shadow room, the bubbles station, the tunnel, the marble run, the water station, the air station, the fish in the aquarium, the blocks, the wheels, and on, and on, and on! So much to do!! We had a really good time and we got to make good use of our membership before it expires this summer! (Anyone with kids should go here, or any children's museum--so great!!) Oh, I was too busy to take pictures, sorry! :)
